Steyning Town FC are delighted to welcome Brannon O’Neill as their new 1st team manager with immediate effect.
For those that follow local non-league football Brannon will need no introduction. In a highly successful non league career in which he made over 740 appearances, Brannon has become one of the most respected players in local football.
The clubs he has represented include Worthing, Dorking Wanderers, Three Bridges, & Burgess Hill Town, often as captain. Prior to this he was a full time footballer with Crawley Town.
As well as being a highly respected player, Brannon has also developed his coaching career, is a UEFA B license coach, and has coached in a variety of roles both in this country and abroad.
Chairman Paul Hart spoke of the appointment “We as a recruiting panel are absolutely thrilled to appoint someone of the calibre of Brannon. The way he spoke about the game, the way he understands the game, and his overall values very much aligned with those of the club. He is highly ambitious, very focused and a leader with high standards. His contacts in local non-football, his willingness to work with the current squad as well his eagerness bring through talented local youngsters were all key positives in our discussions.
Once we knew he was interested, there was a unanimous feeling amongst us all that Brannon was what we needed. The calibre of the other applicants was incredibly high, including many local seasoned managers with decent track records at Step 4 and higher, however with Brannon the approach felt much much fresher and in many ways more exciting. Something we always embrace when recruiting at Steyning”
Brannon himself added “Firstly, I’m really excited to be here at a fantastic club with brilliant people. I would like to thank Hammy for getting this club back to Isthmian football and creating a group that shows such togetherness. I have spoken to him and he has been very supportive. I’m hoping I can continue to the progress he made at this club, with exciting football along with a hard working ethos.
I’ve known people at this club for many years. The club continually progresses through hard work and dedication which is reflective of my values. I hope to connect the youth with the first team, create a pathway which is open, approachable and achievable. I’m really big on this and believe it should be the heart of every club.
The foundations and structure of this club are superb and will continue to grow, and that was a big attraction for me. Glenn Charker comes in as my Assistant Manager. Glenn shares my excitement and positivity about the legacy of this football club and the opportunity it presents. The rest of the management team will be finalised in due course.
I want to thank chairman Paul Hart and the board for giving me and my team the opportunity. We won’t let you down and look forward to this exciting season ahead. We would love the fans to continue their incredible support, continue the noise and continue to be proud of Steyning Town FC!
Expect to see football that is progressive, lots of speed and the hardest working team in Sussex.”
