A Statement from our Chairman Paul Hart:
Unfortunately at the end of the current Season 2025/26, we are having to say goodbye to Danny Norris and Geoff Balmont, our innovative Womens First Team Manager & Head Coach, who will both be stepping down from their positions. This is very much their decision, and I know being made with a very heavy heart.
Both Danny and Geoff have worked tirelessly at the club since joining us in 2018 with our first ever Womens team. In season 2022/23, they achieved League Promotion and a League Cup win making this “Double” year. They established their team in the London & South East Region Womens Football League at Tier 6. They also took the team into the 1st Round proper of the Womens FA Cup – an amazing achievement.
I am disappointed to lose them as they have both been massive assets to Steyning Town FC on and off the pitch, and in particular to our growing Womens/Girls section. They will be greatly missed but are part of our extended Steyning family, and always welcome back. We wish both of them and their families well in the future.
Onwards we go, the process to find a new Womens First Team Manager & Coach begins……”
Paul Hart, Chairman
Danny and Geoff say:
Looking back, we are incredibly proud of what has been built together. The women’s and girls’ section is now stronger than ever — competing at Tier Six, supported by a clear pathway, and thriving through the growth of the youth sides. Along with an innovative approach to running a women’s football team which included, being the first non professional women’s team in Sussex to introduce VEO and GPS trackers, developing our own online player development portal, being a leader in social media engagement and branding which many other women’s clubs then copied. Knowing that this foundation is in place gives us immense pride and real confidence in the future of the female programme.
Steyning Town FC will always remain a significant part of our coaching careers. Although we will miss being involved in the day‑to‑day running of the club, we leave with many amazing memories — including the double‑winning season and the unforgettable achievement of reaching the First Round Proper of the FA Cup. These moments will stay with us for a long time.
