FA Cup Match Report

Steyning Town 3 Peacehaven 0

Report by Dave Perrett. Match Photos by Chris Gregory Here.
On Saturday at a bright and breezy  Birchwood Shooting Field, Town advanced to the Preliminary Rounds of the FA Cup with an impressive 3-0 win over Peacehaven
With a large vocal crowd in attendance and a good following from Peacehaven, we got off to an ideal start when on 5 minutes from a corner, Mark Goldson gave us the lead. Just five minutes later Harry Shooman got on the end of a Rob Clark cross and directed his header wide of the Magpies keeper to double our advantage.
The strong early start galvanized us and set out our stall for the rest of the match.
We continued to play fast passing, pressing and attacking football throughout.
The visitors had their moments, creating a few chances but we were clearly the more dominant side always looking the more likely to score.
Another late goal from Goldson, his second brace in consecutive matches, crowned our win sending the home crowd wild!
The visitors however felt majorly frustrated and ended the match down to ten men after substitute Odafuye was dismissed.
Yes, a tremendous win and all round team performance on the back of our recent outstanding League form.
Man of the match = Mark Goldson
Next up – on Tuesday it’s Cup football again and a trip over to Arundel in the RUR Charity Cup (KO @ Mill Road 7.30pm)
