What a night that was. Seeing so many of our young players in their match shirts in the ground. Just enjoying themselves with their pals. Parents chatting, meeting friends, having a drink and a burger. The buzz around the ground when the word went round that Lewis Dunk was at the game – carried by kids running in all directions trying to catch a glimpse.
And then on the pitch the team did what they have been doing all season. Playing a pressing, progressive match and carrying the game to the opposition. Playing the ball bravely out of defence. Taking players on. It was a joy to watch. And those two goals. If there was a goal that deserved to win a game it was our second by Harry Shooman. Kev and his management team put a lot of work into building a squad capable of last night’s performance and result. We are fortunate.
Massive thanks to the Albion – drawn at home, but happy to play away – allowing our club the opportunity of the night that we had. Thanks to Lewis Dunk for coming along despite the disappointment of withdrawing from the England squad. Thanks to Gary Dicker who lives locally and offers support to our club.
