One of the sad sides of running a football club is when its time to say goodbye to one of your most loyal and favourite players; and now it is one of those times.
After 11 years at the club and approaching 500 appearances it is time, with a heavy heart to say goodbye to Rob Clark.
‘Clarky’ joined us an U18 player in 2013 and was quickly fast tracked in to the first team. Technically competent, fast down the flanks, a neat passer and a good eye for goal, Clarky has been a firm favourite and pretty much an ever present in the squad ever since. He has played pretty much every position and has been a regular sight racing up and down either flank.
A key component of our promotion winning squads in 2018/19 and in 2023/24, as well as a division 1 cup winner we are all indebted to Clarky for some great memories. Perhaps one of his best was in the Division 1 Cup final as he scored an absolute belter cutting from the right flank and curling a glorious shot in to the top corner with his slightly weaker, but still pretty decent, left foot. So often his goals were spectacular.
As Rob moves on to the next chapter we wish him and his partner Danni well as they expect their first child, and who knows, if you are lucky you may see him on a pitch somewhere near you soon, however this time not in the Steyning Red & White stripes.
We wish you well Clarky and thankyou for everything. Top man and a club legend.
