Following the decision of Jon Roberts and Coach Mark Langridge to step down from their U18 roles, we are delighted to give further information on our County U18 set up for next season where we will be running two under 18 SCFL squads.
Firstly we are pleased to welcome Lloyd Coote as our U18 County Manager, supported by his brother, Owain Coote, as Coach to run one of the squads. Secondly we are delighted our current U16 JPL management coaching team of Mark Johns, Tim Jones and Grant Wheatley will continue in to the U18s running the other SCFL U18 side.

Introducing Lloyd and Owain, both bring valuable experience from their time working with Crawley Town, Brighton Pre-Academy, Chelsea Foundation & ASC Brighton. Lloyd says “I am delighted to be offered the opportunity to join Steyning. I join with 4 years of experience and feel now is the time to join forces with this fantastic club with the aim of developing players and bringing further success.”
Owain added “I’m really pleased to be given the opportunity to join Steyning. With 10 years of experience working in youth football across a range of clubs, I feel this is the right moment to be part of such an ambitious and well-run club. I’m looking forward to helping develop players to their full potential while also playing a part in the club’s continued success.”
U18 Coordinator Gerry Murphy commented: “These are exciting times for the club, particularly with the First Team’s recent promotion in to the Isthmian league and the clear pathway emerging for our young players. We’re pleased to welcome Lloyd and Owain, who I’ve known and followed for over 10 years. I’m also delighted that our current U16 JPL management team—Tim Jones, Mark Johns and Grant Wheatley—will step up to lead our other U18 County squad next season made up with a core of players from our current U16 squad.”
Thank-you all – and we look forward to working together.
